Bureau Veritas named as CDP 2020 Global Scoring Partner

06th August 2020

Continuing on its mission to help organisations pursue their environmental goals, Bureau Veritas has been chosen as the CDP 2020 Global Scoring Partner.

In this highly prestigious assignment, Bureau Veritas will be supporting CDP with the scoring of climate change, forests and water security questionnaire responses submitted by organisations worldwide.

In charge of the world’s most prominent environmental disclosure system, each year CDP supports thousands of companies, cities, states and regions to measure and manage their risks and opportunities on climate change, deforestation and water security. As part of this process, which over the last 20 years has encouraged unrivalled engagement on environmental issues, CDP scores the responses of each organisation and publishes the scoring results annually.

When it came to picking its global scoring partner for the 2020 cycle, CDP turned to Bureau Veritas, a long-standing affiliate which for years has supported the non-profit’s mission to drive the sustainability agenda through the Global Verification Partnership.

To deliver its role as a CDP Global Scoring Partner, the Bureau Veritas UK Sustainability Group – a team of highly experienced verifiers and consultants - will draw on the firm’s network of 1,400 offices and over 70,000 employees in more than 140 countries worldwide.

Commenting on the high-profile contract win, Lina Hilwani, Head of Sustainability at Bureau Veritas UK, states: “We’re delighted to be named the CDP 2020 Global Scoring Partner. It’s truly a prestigious appointment that reflects our strong commitment to sustainability. CDP is a key player in driving the sustainability agenda globally, especially when it comes to investment, and at Bureau Veritas we’re honoured that we can support its mission and efforts.

We believe this alignment on values, as well as the extraordinary track record of our experienced sustainability teams, have not only been key to our successful relationship with CDP to date, but will be critical in effectively delivering this Scoring Partnership. We look forward to working with CDP and making a real impact.”

Faye Bennett-Hart, Head of Disclosure and Assessment at CDP, said: “Transparent reporting is the essential foundation for environmental action. Our global environmental disclosure system plays a vital role in helping companies and local governments worldwide to address the urgent issues of climate change, deforestation and water security. To do this effectively, we need a scoring partner with the skills and experience to manage the complexities in environmental reporting.

Having worked with Bureau Veritas over a number of years, we were impressed with their high standards for quality, technical expertise and extensive experience in this area – which made them such a strong choice for our 2020 Global Scoring Partner.”

Bureau Veritas has experience and technical expertise in helping some of the world’s largest organisations improve their sustainability performance in a number of sectors including food, pharmaceutical, financial and manufacturing. With a proven track record in verification of environmental, health & safety and social data, including conducting audits against the requirements of ISO 14064 Part 3, Bureau Veritas is also a GRI Community Member, an AA1000AS Licensed Provider and a UKAS accredited ISO 14064-1 Verification Body.
