Orwell Offshore SPM Turret Buoy completes first offloading for Pertamina

01st March 2019

First offloading on the Balongan SPM Turret buoy took place on the 26th February 2019 when MT Erawan 99 a 105715-t tanker hooked up and discharged her cargo.

The SPM located in approximately 26 meters of water is known as RU VI Balongan and is a Turret type SPM Buoy. The Buoy, Pipeline End Manifold (PLEM), Mooring system and hose transfer system was delivered by Orwell Offshore for an EPC contract. Orwell Offshore is a UK based leading firm of Naval Architects and Offshore Engineers specialising in Marine Terminal Systems and Offshore Mooring Systems. The complete system is classified by ABS.

Mark Evans, Managing Director of Orwell Offshore said “This turret buoy was designed to meet Pertamina’s specific operational requirements and standards. The “turret” design allows for the vast majority of the buoy operating equipment to be enclosed in the deck house, protected from the offshore environment during the lifetime of the buoy, resulting in lower maintenance requirements and safer improved operating conditions for the crew when on board during operations.”

Orwell Offshore is currently supplying three SPM turret buoys to clients in Nigeria.
