Russian gas giant Gazprom on Friday hosted a high profile meeting between Alexey Miller, chairman of the company's management committee and Yury Boiko, vice prime minister of Ukraine, to address the need to maintain the supply of Russian gas to Europe through its neighbour .

The meeting addressed the most urgent issues of bilateral cooperation, Gazprom said in a written statement. Talks between Alexey Miller and Yury Boiko focused highly  on the current supplies of Russian natural gas to Ukraine.

The meeting participants paid close attention to the need of timely injecting sufficient gas volumes into Ukrainian underground gas storage (UGS) facilities in order to secure the uninterrupted transit of Russian gas to Europe during the upcoming winter. The parties stressed the particular relevance of solving this task, which will require considerable financial resources from Ukraine, according to Gazprom.
