The Style 905 coupling is specifically designed to eliminate the need for butt fusing while offering visual confirmation of correct installation

Victaulic, the world's leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe-joining systems, will  preview a raft of new products for upstream, midstream and downstream applications as well as demonstrating ease of installation at stand 1423) at this year’s Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE).

Products on show will include the brand new Style 905 coupling, an Installation-Ready solution for HDPE pipe 2-6"/50-150mm that joins in just seconds using only a standard socket or impact wrench. The Style 905 coupling is specifically designed to eliminate the need for butt fusing while offering visual confirmation of correct installation.

A new version of the popular Series 727 Grooved End Ball Valve, a high-pressure, enhanced port, NACE-compliant valve for upstream oil applications will also be displayed. The corrosion resistant valve allows a faster load and the groove by thread variant, on show for the first time in Europe, introduces even more versatility.

This male threaded version is designed for tank and equipment connections. The valve is offered bare or with lever handle, and will give customers the option to connect to any threaded tanks or equipment.

The Series 727 Ball Valve provides excellent flow characteristics and enables quick and easy installation and maintenance. Flow testing has demonstrated up to one-third better flow than competitive standard port ball valves, while the Series 727 weighs one-third less than equivalent flanged valves, easing handling and installation.

The Victaulic Delta-Y Assembly, a combination of pre-assembled Victaulic cast grooved fittings, couplings and valves designed specifically for bulk cement/barite systems on offshore oil drilling platforms and mud drilling systems, will also be at ATCE. The Delta-Y Assembly is available in 5-6”/125-150mm with a 300 PSI/2065 kPa pressure rating. A long radius version is available to maximize flow capabilities.

Finally, Victaulic is also introducing a new portable roll grooving tool at the event. Roll grooving reduces total pipe install time in half versus threading with no impact on integrity or flow dynamics.

“Grooved mechanical pipe-joining offers substantial sustainability advantages compared to flanging, welding and threading,” said Dan Christian, Victaulic Director Oil, Gas, Chemical & Power Markets EMEAI. “It is a greener, safer and faster technology that provides engineers with genuine advantages over more traditional techniques.”

Grooved systems are accessible simply by removing two bolts from a coupling, so it is easier to maintain efficient system performance, while replacing threading with grooving dramatically reduces leakage and associated environmental costs and penalties. And because no hot works are required for installation, pollution and energy use are reduced on site, while safety risks are dramatically lowered.

Additionally, with the latest Installation-Technology components from Victaulic, installation is up to ten-times faster than other pipe-joining methods with no specialist training required for installers.

“Victaulic has been innovating in the oil and gas market since 1919,” added Christian. “Engineers demand real competitive advantages and that is exactly what is delivered with this new range of robust products designed to work in some of the most testing of environments.”

To show the ease of use and speed of assembly, there will be regular grooving demonstrations at ATCE with a wide range of the latest couplings, fittings and accessories. For more information, please visit stand 1423 or the Victaulic oil and gas piping systems webpage.
