Petrobras prepares 4D seismic project in the Santos Basin

The Brazilian state-owned oil and gas company is planning a 4D seismic project in the 1,500 square kilometre Lula Field pre-salt area of the Santos Basin offshore the state of Rio de Janeiro.
It hopes to gather continuous data to better map oil and gas reservoirs in order to improve exploration and production activity in the area.
Petrobras will need to install nodes on the field’s seabed and commission a seismic vessel to carry out the work.
It has previously installed long-term 4D seismic nodes for continuous reservoir monitoring in other areas of the Santos Basin.
Petrobras has used the technology in the Marlim field since 2005, and also in other areas of the Campos Basin such as the Roncador, East Albacore, Barracuda and Caratinga fields.
